Texas A&M Offers Undergraduate Minor in 'LGBTQ Studies'

A Texas A&M University (TAMU) program that allows students to minor in LGBT studies has caught the eye of one Texas lawmaker who said the university is “spending state resources” on “liberal indoctrination.”

State Rep. Brian Harrison (R-Midlothian) posted online about the undergraduate minor in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Studies, stating that he would “be demanding answers from TAMU.”

He followed his initial alert by saying he spoke with leadership at TAMU who confirmed the school is “spending state resources to assert that ‘gender and sexuality are socially constructed,’ that ‘transphobia’ has a ‘relationship to racism, colonialism, sexism, ableism, classism,’ and that they plan to continue spending tax dollars to maintain their undergraduate minor in LGBTQ studies.”
