Sen. Paul Bettencourt (R-Houston) joined The Texan’s reporter Holly Hansen to discuss the ongoing fracas in the Harris County Commissioners Court over raising taxes, the effect of rising crime on elections, and the upcoming legislative session.
“The big flashpoint is the Harris County Commissioners Court and the criminal judges in Harris County, and it’s all wrapped around crime,” said Bettencourt.
“That’s how people feel — they feel unsafe. And when the public feels unsafe, they’re gonna turn their direction to making themselves safe again, and that may be a big change in the Harris County Commissioners Court and some of the judicial positions in Harris County.”
