PREMISE: Most churches depend on the offerings collected during worship services for the majority of their funding, so with those services banned temporarily, giving is down as much as 70% or even more. Smaller, urban churches have been hard hit in particular and while online giving is expanding, to many it may be too little, too late. The government funding assistance through the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan or Payroll Protection Program will be available to some, however it is limited, many won’t have access to it and there is a legitimate concern that we should help one another before turning to government. Many of our churches need help NOW!
PURPOSE: To raise and distribute emergency sustaining financial resources to struggling churches facing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 restrictions placed by government on church gatherings, business activities, etc., as efficiently as possible, using online application combined with a confirmation process for the needs. These funds are to assist with Rent/Mortgage payments, payroll assistance, Insurance or utilities, based on your church’s confirmed need.
PROCESS: U.S. Pastor Council as a 501 (c) (3) profit ministry can receive tax deductible donations and has established a designated “Help a Church” fund to receive donations from individuals, churches, businesses and private foundations. Disbursements will be made upon approval directly to the church.
DISCLAIMER: All grant requests made by churches will be reviewed by a team of pastors to confirm the application information and approved on a case by case basis based on available resources in the Help A Church fund, with grants limited to a maximum of $1,500 unless the approval team grants an exception. Grants will be distributed by check to the recipient church unless arrangements are made for direct deposit.
CRITERIA: We can only accept applications from an active and established church that meets weekly or more in a facility owned or leased by the church and adheres to traditional creeds of the Christian church (Protestant or Catholic) or is a Jewish Synagogue.
